Hoping that someone will be able to assist in a bit of advice. I bought a C220 CDI about a month ago and when I filled the screen washer bottle for the first time, the jet did not work for an hour or so. I've just re-filled the bottle for the second time and the same thing has happened. When I continue to push the stem, I notice that the pressure gradually builds up until the washer is working fine. Again, this process took the guts of an hour before the water began trickling up my windscreen.
I don't know if this is an anomally to my car or if anyone else has had a similar problem. Is it possible to overfill the reservoir or could anything effect what appears to be a problem with lack of pressure (as strange as this sounds)? Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks. A new washer pump was in the back of my mind, but I wondered how the jets worked fine at all others times - it was just after re-filling that the problems occurred. If it was the pump then the performance would be poor all the time. I feel that my cheque book may need dusting down.

Could well be a bit of crud inside the pump causing the problem. Don't know cost BillyB, but shouldn't think a washer pump will break the bank! No breakers near you? Get the whole bottle for a couple of quid.

Check the jets aren't blocked up too. If its the pump, you should be able to tell if you pull a pipe off at the bonnet end and check the pressure. Watch the flow through the pipe etc.
Also, check the tank for crud blocking the pump intake. I cleaned the one out on my 2000 W210, it was full of bits of dried additive and slime.
