Window Problem

I have a 1999 E240 saloon which I love dearly.

One minor problem I have is that lowering the windows does not remove condensation or in any way "clean" the window panes. Is this normal ? I suspect its not.

Thanks,
Michael

It would be great if somebody could just take a minute to answer. I have the car a few months and its still under warranty so I need to determine whether this is normal or needs fixing.

Thanks in advance for help.

Do you mean inside or our?

My C class (2000 model year W202) will clear the outside of most condensation if I open the windows.

Internally, though, I rely on the ventilation/air con.

As with any other car, really

The rubber seal should slide down the glass as it opens and clean the moisture from the window, but this is really a by-product of the seal and not it's actual purpose. I've had mixed results with this, some cars seal really tightly and squeagee the glass clean, others are patchy and yet others do nothing. The thghter the seal the more likely it is to be squeaky so you could argue that if it did clear the glass, this would be a fault too. In short - no I wouldn't bother the dealer, unless you have a substantial gap between the glass and the seal.
I have treated my side windows with a rain repellant, so the moisture beads up and doesn't restrict vision. May be worth a go.

That's great advice, thanks. I'm off to look for a rain repellant.

Cheers,
Michael
