Thats a coincidence.....the subject of window tinting has just cropped up in a different place on the forum. :D
UK law is very clear on this -
Windscreen must allow at least 75% light through, with front side windows allowing 70%.
All other windows anything goes.

Further to the above as the windows have some tint already, anything added to the front side windows will make them illegal - not that it stops them around here... most Audi's and VW's you can't see in the drivers windows. I'd have the car crushed on the spot if I was in charge.

I love having privacy glass, doesn't look chavvy at all, as you can see from our car even when they are quite dark from the outside you can still see quite clearly from inside the car :)

Can't stand the tell tale white outer line of tints caused by the film not adhered to the dots .

Can see it from 20 m away .

Tints Vs Privacy , night and day .

I'm with you, absolutely hate the white lines. In fact, when i got my w213 I actually bought privacy glasses from mercedes breakers which wern't too expensive.

I had the rear windows and rear screen done on the CLS. I went for a gradient that is common place on most newish cars. I didn't touch the front end but, I do see the odd one around that's had a very light subtle tint on the front (it must be one of the lightest shades) and similarly darker one to mine on the rear and the transition looks better between non tinted and tinted glass but, always best to give the cops one less reason to stop you.

I like the fact that on the road it does what privacy glass needs to do when on the move but, if the car is not moving and you're close you can see in just enough, easily for example to interact with the baby as I'm filling up or, need to see if I've left anything on the back seat etc.

and also more chance of seeing the motorcyclist if your side window isn't black...

Ive managed to get it all done now. Went for 20% VLT on the rears and left the fronts standards. May get them done at a later date but happy for now. Thank you for everyones comments and input

I wouldn't buy a car with "privacy glass", what's anyone going to do in a car that makes them want "privacy" from other drivers and passers by? Last July I had some difficulty sourcing a new C300 without the hateful (just my opinion of course) stuff. Some years ago it used to be a no cost delete option, though now it seems to come as standard on most models, is it possible to order a new car from the factory without it? Who would want to look like some small time council estate drug dealer?

No offence intended to those on here who actually seem to like this chav feature of course...

I like my privacy so wouldn't buy a car without privacy glass. I had a Fiat500 for a couple of years and I felt like I was driving around in a goldfish bowl, way too much glass and a glass bit in the roof too, my idea of driving hell. I don't want people looking into my car, I want to feel private and away from prying eyes, even thought there is nothing I am doing other than driving or being a passenger. I am the same as a pedestrian, always wear dark glasses
