Charlie,

It may be that some of the teeth have broken off the arc piece. You will be able to see once you remove the panel. It is also possible that it just needs adjusting.

From memory, remove trim around lock, piece inside wing mirror, bolt on top of door pull. When you have everything removed, panel must be pushed upwards about an inch before removing.

Thanks Pascal your right the about 6 teeth have broken of the arc piece what should I do is it possible to swap round with the back window arc piece as they are never used or is it a bit more involved than just bolting and upbolting the bits do you have to line them up with the rest of the window arm etc as Im not really a mechanic not sure if its agood idea.

Charlie,

I have to admit I got someone else to do it for me on my 300CE, as I was too busy at the time. I don't think the part was too expensive, and if I had a spare Saturday at the time, I would have figuired out how to do it myself.

Pascal.

The rivetts that hold the mechanism in are *HUGE* if you DIY, make sure you hire an industrial size rivett gun before you start.

I didnt and HSS only had 2 guns that size in the country - I had to wait a whole week with the window taped into place until I could hire it. :(

thats odd, I've just renewed some rivets on my W210 and they are normal size and a regular rivet gun did the job AOK (4.5mm or something like that I think). There wasn't very much clearance at the back of the mechanism so you had to be careful with that and the lenght of the aluminium bit at the end of the rivet but other than that it went AOK.

They wouldn't have been drilled out a bit big in the past by any chance?

I have a similar problem with a W124 E220 Coupe, drivers door window. had been told it was teeth worn on the window regulator, and would be easy job to replace. Is this arc a piece of the regualtor ?
Do I need a rivet gun to replace this or is it attaced with bolts ?

Have never tried rivetting before ad have no access to rivet gun right now.
