I've just bought a 1998 CL500 (W140). Problem I have is that the rear and front windows on one side have got out of adjustment; the front wndow lifts all the way to the top but the rear stops about 5mm from the top. What is supposed to happen is that the two windows close automatically, front first then the last 5mm on the rear, to make the final seal. Works perfectly on one side but not t'other. Manual unhelpful.

Any ideas very welcome, thanks.

Following text scanned from manual:

Adjustment of side windows

After an interruption in the voltage
supply (battery disconnected or
flat), the side windows can no
longer be automatically opened or
closed. In this case, the windows
must be newly adjusted:
Press the switches to <up> until the
windows are completely closed,
and hold in this position for one
second.
Note:
The side windows can also be
closed by using the infrared remote
control, refer to page 39.

Hi,

Thanks for that - it says the same in my manual. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on my car for some reason, so I'm a bit stuck... :(

I was hoping that there may be some other trick...!

you might find that you have to pull the fuse in order for it to be re-set.

or maybe the battery itself.

so - open door. open windows half way. disconect battry. leave for 5 mins. re connect battery. close door. close window using auto shut - does it auto up? no? - good - that means it needs re setting. close front window all the way and hold button down for 5 seconds. repeat for rear window.

I have played about with mine for ages, to little avial on a tiny little bit of wind noise from the top corners..

OK, thanks for the tip. It's going into the body shop next week so I'll get them to try this out whilst it's in. I'll post a reply once I know whether this worked!
