Well it's been an eventful night for me!

Long story short, the ex girlfriend has smashed my windscreen (from the inside with her foot)

Completly smashed, am I able to get this done on the insurance, or will they ask how it happened and not do it as it was caused from the inside!

Don't know where I stand, think through insurance windscreen is £75 excess.

God knows how much it would cost.

WOMEN!

Thanks for any advice in advance!

Insurance company is Aviva, I had been with them for about 4 years with 5 years protected no claims bonus.

Windscreen cover is intended for damage caused by foreign objects hitting the screen on the outside...I'm not sure how you will describe this one to the insurance company.

I suspect the replacement company will just say stone chip.

BTW is she the ex because of this, or is this because she's the ex?:D

Oh bollocks, I don't know how to go about it! Don't wanna pay hundreds.

She's an ex before hand but got stuck on a night out, so I said I'd take her home forgetting she's an absolute nut case when she's drunk.

If only you knew the whole story. So much **** has happened now smashing the car up!

Don't know what to do, looks like I'll drive it around with a smash windsxreen hahah

Just checked my (Aviva) insurance - I'm covered for "windscreen breakage", but no mention of foreign objects or inside/outside (or ex/current GFs).

Just tell em it's broke. ;)

That's what I did many years ago when I wanted a new screen in my Cavaliar Coupe ....... he suspected it'd had a mishap on the drive where it was standing with its toughened screen more or less in tact. I knew

What about when they ask how it was broken haha.

Aviva policy is £75 excess for windsxreen isn't it.

Absolute joke I was fuming.

Just in case you're serious - the break probably makes the car unroadworthy. It's obviously an MOT fail.

Just tell the insurer it's broken. If they ask for details I'd be minded to say the screen while carrying things over Christmas - that not untrue. :)

All done, go straight through to auto glass, real easy, have to wait until the 7th January though!

They didn't even ask what happened. Paid the £75 quid and its booked in.

Will aviva contact me about it or just let it go?

If she is not British, than your statement that, the damage was done by foreign object will be entirely truthful ...

Just make sure your auto lights & wipers work after fitting ;)

And your GF remains an ex.

I gather you wont be asking here for the £75 excess that she owes you ?

I'd doubt it.

Oh I'll need to check, is this becuse there is a little unit thing connected to the windscreen, this is what is scaring me about it all.

The cars still in warranty which is prob now void.

What else will I need to check? They did say on the phone something sbout a camera and that a main dealer will need to do something and I'll have to pay myself.

There have been some recent post about new screens causing problems with auto lights & wipers. You might need them setting up again via a place that has a proper Star (diagnostic/programming magic box)
