With our brief summer a thing of the past and winter looming, what do you guys use?

My wife purchased de-icer from Wilko or the supermarket (I forget the make) and it left depostis on the glass and paint. Took it to the tip on our last run but need a replacement.

We’ve also been using supermarket stuff for the screen but I wonder if it damages the wipers, paint etc.

I use autoglym de-icer and generally Mercedes branded screen wash as I’ve lots of it. No issues with either

I use Halfords Green winter screen wash diluted 5:1 . I have recently bought some Sonax super concentrate 250ml screen wash which I add a little shot each time I fill the washer bottle . It seems to add some extra cleaning power .
Never used de icer , I would just leave the car running first

I use Mercedes screen wash and a Holts de icer.
Living in the soft south:) iced up windscreens are fairly rare fortunately.

Both cars are garaged & I have never had to top up between services. MB quite often leave a bottle of winter screen wash in the car after a service.
Back in the mid 60's I was in Germany in the army. There everyone used tax free gin, it was cheaper than the screen wash!

I use Sonax Premium Screen wash and a Winter variant Sonax for when weather worsens, generally about time I put on Winter Tyres,

4 out 5 in our close are retired including me - I’m usually first up & about in the morning. Always been an early starter.

I’m up and about early , I meant I’ve no need to use the car early .

I have used MB winterfit for many years, always ask for a bottle when buying parts. Living on the sunny south coast, don’t see a lot of frost so just use warm (tepid) water in a jug and pour it over the windows just before I drive off.

I’ve been meaning to ask people for a while , every other trip to Wales I’ve ended up with a white stubborn spray on the windscreen (that I think has come from lorries I’ve passed ) .
It is really hard to shift , on one of the times I actually stopped at Halfords in Shrewsbury to buy some screen cleaning cloths to get rid of it .
Anyone know what it is ?
