Hi, this will be my first post. I purchased a W210 E240 New Spec on Friday. All seem to in perfect order except for the windscreen washers only working when the bonnet is completely open. The wiper works fine, it is only the washers that don't work.

If you shut the bonnet can you still here the washer pump running, if you can then you would need to look at the tube which carries the water to the jets being trapped or crimped. If you cant here the water pump running then you would need to look at 12volt supply to the pump motor missing good luck

Hi & Welcome,

The problem is likely to be that the hose or hoses have come off the end of the jets. If you put the bonnet up into the service position you can then get access to the bottom of the washer jets. You need to open the two black plastic covers you will then be able to push the hoses back onto the end of the jets. You can cut back some of the hose to give a firmer grip, although just pushing them back on maybe enough for now.

Problem solved

Before taking of all the plastic covers in the hood I decided to test at which point the washers stop working when I close the hood. As I slowly closed the hood while pressing the washer lever (I'm tall ;) ) I noticed that the washers become gradually less potent and the sound that the pump makes also seem to struggle more and more.

IOW, the water doesn't flow anymore, but why?

You've guessed it, the pipes get pinched by the closing hood. I adjusted the pipe a bit so that it doesn't run on its normal pattern anymore and eureka!
