Hello ,

car: C250 coupe AMG 2017
I have a problem with the windshield washer jets.
When I press the button to the windshield washer, no water comes but the wipers work as normal...
Basically my windshield is always mushy
Any idea what can be the issue?

please don’t laugh if my question is stupid
thanks a lot :)

I think that might have been lost in translation .... :D:D

Can you hear the pump trying? If so, it could just be sludge in the bottom of the tank caused by the use of cheap screen wash or washing up liquid that blocks the pump. Or it could be blocked jets. Assuming the older ball type jet, you need a thin needle/pin to clear them.

Hi Guys!!!

Firstly, thanks a lot for replying :)

Secondly, this "mushy" meant to be mucky/muddy :D:D:D and yes, was lost in the translation, thanks to you and google translate i found out what i actually said

The water tank is full, checked that.
Also, i can't hear the pomp trying, it is a total silence when pressing the button, so that's why i don't think the jets are blocked...
Kept reading about this online, heard that might be the fuse or maybe it needs a new pomp?!

has it been very cold where you are ?, if the bottle filled with plain water, it could freeze, and then when trying to wash screen, blows the fuse.
Just a thought.

An easy test is pull the leads to the pump and test for 12v, if no voltage check the fuse. If there is voltage assume the pump has gone

May be a fuse .

Hello,

Any idea, where this fuse is located, which fuse box? I kept reading the manual, but i can't find this information.
May be in the Fuse box in the engine compartment on the driver's side, near the windshield washer fluid?

Another question, today i saw the auxiliary battery malfunction error, went to a mechanic in my small town and he said I don't have such battery ... any idea where is located? :)

Thank you and sorry for so many questions

i'd remove the washer pump and check that it works by putting 12 volts across it .... doesn't matter which way you apply the voltage. Otherwise you could be looking for a fuse that has NOT blown.

No-one has mentioned access to the pump - IIRC it's on the reservoir behind the front of the wheel arch cover for the front NS (in UK RHD car, may be OS in Roumania LHD car!) which means wheel off and wheel arch pulled to get at it! Position of the reservoir filler neck under the bonnet should show which side it's on.

Pat i can find the location of fuses boxes 3 or 4 locations ,, but nothing in there about screen washers .But google this -
,,,, Fuse-Box.info ,,,,, And then put in the search box on the right what you need . But i think its in the SAM . Faster to get a star check at MB dealers .

If you're fit and healthy, not almost 70 with COPD! I had a similar problem with my 968 cab about 6 years ago, and access was even worse, front OS wheel off and wheel arch liner out then all sorts of **** to get the reservoir out - even worse getting the ********thing back in! Not a cat in hell's chance of doing anything similar these days.

Love Mercedes for ease of accesses to the parts ,,most are the same .So hard to work on .

A lot of car manufactures hide the washer bottle under a wheel arch .... even Ford way back when hid the Sierra's washer bottle there.

ED Well i am old school ,, and i like everything at hand . You know what i mean - dont you ? .Simplicity is the way to go .

I don't suppose there's the space under a bonnet these days for huge washer bottles, especially if the car has headlight washers which tend to have a bigger bottle. I remember the washer bottle for my Dad's MKII Granada estate, it supplied both front & rear screens and was HUGE .... definitely wouldn't fit under the bonnet of a modern day car. ;);)
