Hi, I have issue with windshield washer jets in my c220 CDI coupé.
When I press wiper switch arms are moving but no screen wash is sprayed on the windshield. I have checked level of the liquid - correct, pump checked with 12v battery - working ok. But when pump connected in the car doesn't seem to work. I've checked for the fuses but on the diagram says electronic - not sure what's that mean. Any ideas where else could be a problem?

Hello and welcome

Pumps can fail, I’d clean the tank out with a hosepipe first as washer fluid can turn to a gel type substance, especially mixing fluids and concentrations.

When I disconnected pump liquid was ok, normal consistency as it should. On Wednesday I have someone replacing my faulty relay 87 ( currently looped). Can this be a reason?

From your post you seem capable, so I assume you have ensured that the feed pipes are not getting squashed when you close the bonnet. Or that the jets are not blocked, the usual trick is to poke a pin in the holes, but you should be careful and might want to check if that is a bad idea on your car - because it might be possible to do damage with a sharp instrument.

You may have 12V going to the pump, doesnt mean the pump can do something with the 12v.

Failed pumps can make a noise to make you think they are working (I have seen this a couple of times), 16 years old, I would replace the pump.

While its out give the tank a good clean, its amazing how much sludge gets accumilated there, Use a hose, and tape the end to create a pressure, if the main tank part is readily accesible, a bottle brush is useful. Some tanks however just have the neck showing and the main body of the tank is inacessible to clean thoroughly inside.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Mine has a filter on the pump inlet (also acts as the pump/washer bottle seal) this was blocked causing a low output.
The amount of crud in the washer bottle was amazing.

2005 CL500.
If you disconnect the hose from the pump...does the water spurt out?
If yes...blocked hose or jets.
