Wing mirror defect.

Gents,

My nearside wing mirror now only opens up about half the time, it has for a while when opening sounding like a rat is being crushed!
Would this be the motor on the way out? or has anyone experienced similar?
10 year old E350 .

It’s a known fault of the W211 door mirror. Ours did the same. No one simple cause or repair; mostly stems from failing actuator and/ or pivot system.
Simplest thing to do is leave them open unless parking in a confined space.
