W203 Wing Mirror.

Looks like the cable between the mirror and door controller has broken due to folding in and out.

Mercedes say I need to buy a complete mirror. Is this right or can I just buy the cable ?

Ive seen them around £150 incl postage on Ebay which seems a bit steep when its just a broken cable.

Why not take it off and replace the wires

Wing mirror problem

Hi
I came across your message and i had a similar problem with my car, some £*$% thought it would be funny to kick it the only time i didnt have them folded in. It was on the pavement side thats how i know it couldnt of been knocked by a car.
I went to my main dealer first and they quoted me over £300 just to replace the inside as my wingmirror cover was still in tact on the floor. Apparantly this was saving me money with colour coding and spraying etc.
I tried my local garage and it wasnt that much cheaper so i left it for a while to think about it.
One saturday i came back to my car in a carpark and a card was on my window advertising this wingmirror company. I normally throw this kind of advert away before reading but i was curious to see if i can save money.
I phoned and with supply and fitting, they came round to my house just before i started dinner and was finished before i was. It cost me £160 and i didnt have to do much apart from pay.
The company website is www.wingmirroruk.com have a look as i was gratefull i dint have to pay double and have to take time off work and chase them around.
Good luck and i hope this is a help to you

Thanks Malcolm. Just got round to repairing the mirror this morning. Turns out that 9 of the wires were broken. Managed to repair them and now mirror working as new.
