Winter tyres advice please

I have a 2005 CLK 200, with 225/45R17 on the front and 245/40R17 on the rear. i would like to fir winter tyres, but cannot source the rear tyres. My local Mercedes can get me Dunlops, but the total cost would be over £900, which seems excessive. Apparently I could change the rear wheels, but not keen to do that. Are the rear tyres an unusual size ?, any advice would be most welcome. Thanks

Go for Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes, 225/45x17 front & rear. I've used them on my CLK for years and nothing stops it in winter.
Not many 245 sized winter tyres around.

If you have the 8½" wheels on the rear you can fit the same as on the front 7½" wheels, that is within the limits
