SLC 250d AMG (LINE) 2018
Hi, So this year I swapped my SLK for an SLC AMG (line). I'm currently frantically shopping for my new requirement of 18" instead of the 17" winters I brought new last year.. Doh! (stock availability is proving difficult) so anyone who need 225 45 17"s? they're up for sale..
Anyway, as its been a while since I've engaged my ESP, is it ON or OFF in the snow/ice? I live up quite an incline which is always challenging in the snow, of which we have... And tomorrow is Monday, so to summarise;
SLC- No winter tyres yet - work tomorrow - Anxiety DEFCON 1!
Many Thanks
Staffordshire...

ESP should be on… unless you want to play…;)

Have you checked the that the winter wheels you bought for your SLK won’t fit your SLC?
I‘d do a size comparison with what’s on and your 17” winters - they might be the same size overall. Just check the ET is correct as well.

I‘ve been to Birmingham and back this weekend in my SLK with winters on. Had to go on some very icy side roads as the M1 from Sheffield was a car park. No issues at all :)

Different size wheel bolts, we swapped from a SLK to a SLC.

Our SLC 250d 2016 came with 18" wheels. I have a set of 17" Nokian all season tyres which work well, not sure why you want 18" winter wheels?

Interesting. I went up to Nottingham today and there was no snow at all!

We were at the Good Food show at the NEC, it was snowing pretty heavily so we left at 14:30. The M42/A42 was messy with slush and poor visibility. M1 was better until South of Sheffield then it was basically closed (same as yesterday)

Ah you were later than me. I went up and arrived about 11 and left about 13:30.

You could consider All Seasons (depending where you are.......)

Bad idea. Once the temp is below 8 C you want tires with the mountain and snowflake symbol. It indicates that the rubber compound will stay flexible at lower temperatures. Tests have shown that worn out tires with that symbol offer better traction and stopping than new all season tires in cold temps.

Ahh in the UK we tend to refer to all-season as dual winter/summer tyres and they are usually marked with the snowflake in mountains symbol for low temp use. Like the excellent Michelin Cross Climate.

Ahh. We call those All Weather on this side of the pond.
But you get proper quantities of snow that warrant them. We get 1mm and the whole country comes to a grinding halt.

You also get the sea that freezes. Fond memories of Cape Breton.

When I bought my Viano unseen I expected it would have the usual near end of life and mixed make tyres so was looking forward to fitting a set of CrossClimates. However much to my surprise it came with a matching set of recent Goodyears on 7mm so I've a bit of wearing down to do.

Yep, all seasons here do the job for most of the winter we see (I have Bridgestone weather control on mine.)
My brother, in Coburg, Ontario, is on his full winters (on his V8 pick up, the lucky....)
