Hi I have a 2017 e400 with an issue with my passenger side wiper arm juddering and stopping for to long at the end, I’ve changed the blades, Merc have said it needs a new arm and motor for £1,000, I’m thinking it could be just the arm ? Any thoughts would be very appreciated and if anyone has changed just the arm on how easy this could be.
Thank you

Check the arm nut is tight.

Rdit.
On 2nd thoughts, if it were a loose arm, or slipping splines the arm would be out of sync with the drivers side.

Thank you, yes I’ve checked the nut, do you think it could be the motor ? The drivers side is fine and I assume there’s only one motor for both

if the arm is pausing too long at either end of its stroke it would suggest to me that something in the linkage under the scuttle panel is at fault. I can't imagine how MB get to their quote of £1000!!!! Is there an unusual amount of play in the arm itself?

Thank you, I take it the shuttle panel is part of the arm ? The full quote was actually £828, £400 of that is the motor,

The scuttle panel is the plastic panel at the base of the screen where the wiper arms poke through.

Thank you but it doesn’t have that panel

Sorry ... most cars do so I assumed. The wiper spindles will be driven via a linkage from the motor .... so I'm guessing the fault will be on that linkage.

Thank you, so the wiper arm as far as you would know will come with the linkage, therefore no need to buy the motor yet ?

wiper arms themselves are attached to the spindle via a splined taper .... remove the nut from the top (normally under a clip on cover) then it should gently lever/wiggle off. It might need a puller

Though the motor itself can removed form the linkage, they are generally supplied as a unit ....as in the link above ... that's why MB's wiper assembly is £400
