Wiper Compatability

The wiper on my W202 doesn't extend and contract, it only sweeps. I see from other threads on wipers that its probable that the gearbox has broken and that no service parts are available, only complete units which are pretty expensive.
Ever the one to try to save a few pounds I notice that there is a 190 motor and an E class one on ebay. Does anyone know if its possible to fit either of these to my car?

Both are different and probably not fit. If it is the motor for sale on ebay this will not fix your problem, the motor is ok as you say the blade is moving across the screen but not in and out which is controled buy the linkage.

The items in question are motors with mechanisms, I just wondered if the mechanisms would swap, I guess if it WOULD fit then the 190 unit might be the better option (working on the basis that the screens would be nearer the same size).
I suppose I could always try mercman for a C class unit.

If this is the E-class unit you are referring to, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mercedes-E-Cl...105957870QQcategoryZ10398QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem, it will almost certainly fit your car although you may need to change the motor as the wiring connector varies ,also fit your own wiper arm and blade as I think the E-class is longer,the other unit for a 190 will not fit.

Thanks for that! Thats the one , I was planning to try to change just the mechanism and was hoping I could just dismount mine and fit a replacement. I figured it would be highly unlikely that the motor and its mounting bracket would fit but was hoping that the mechanism would.

I think the whole unit should fit but the E-class uses a 25" blade and the wiper arm may also be longer,I don't know for sure. If the plug on the motor is different you will also have to change the motor.
