Hi, My ML350 (w163) has developed a strange fault, in the morning for around the first 10 minutes after initial start-up neither the wipers or screen washers work, the whole stalk is just completely dead, they eventually "wake up" at around the same time the engine is reaching operating temperature, although I assume that's just coincidence ? the battery is only 7 months old and seems fine, once they start working they work perfectly and stay like that all day, it only seems to happen when its been parked up overnight. weird..and quite irritating especially if its raining :( before I pack it of to the auto electricians I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar ? cheers.

Sounds like a poor electrical connection. I’d be out with the contact cleaning lubricant and working switches and fuses / relays in and out and giving them a good spray.

thanks, did that today, took the fuse & relay out sprayed everything I could get at with halfrauds electrical contact spray, going to leave the battery on trickle charge overnight see if that helps, it seemed slow-ish turning over this morning, wondering if there may be parasitic battery leak that's not helping ? just weird that once they start working they're absolutely fine

Took it to work today having not started it for over a week, wipers & washers worked as soon as the engine fired up problem appears to have gone away o_O happy days. Something I did seems to have fixed it..not really sure what though. Car electrics are weird.

Could be multi function stalk, a known problem. Had stalk replaced on my CLK, wiper problem.
