Hi all
Does anyone know if a 2000 W reg 210 E220cdi Avantgarde has
Heated washer jets?? They have frozen up overnight for the last
2 days (the washer fluid has antifreeze in it to what I though was
a high concentrate but I obviously was wrong) I have looked
under the bonnet and on the passenger side bonnet strut there is the
water supply pipe and what appears to be an electrical wire but it is
encased in a black plastic sheath so I am not sure. Also if it has heaters how
do they work, auto?? heated rear screen etc.
Just an aside this is the first time the jets have frozen since I have owned
The car.
Regards
Mike J

Mike,
pretty sure its supposed to. It comes on automatically as do the heated mirrors. I assume it runs off the outside temp sensor.
What commonly happens is that the fluid in the system is fine, but water from dew/snow is frozen over the top of the jet. Sometimes just pressing your finger on the jet for a few secs will do the trick.

Mike,

Same on mine, have wires running to the washer jets but they have frozen a few times, I cannot tell if they are heated or not. The Manual mentiones 'Heated windscreen washer systems' but I think that is heating to the reservoir which I don't have. I have done a vin check on mine and although 600 - Headlamp wiper/washer is listed their is nothing regarding Windscreen Washers. Maybe someone else on the forum knows if there is a code for heated windscreen washer systems?

I never find these work that great from start up anyway. I now defrost the car with a kettle of luke warm water. It works great with no chemicals. It also puts about 3-4 degrees of heat in the glass so it doesn't refreeze or mist inside. With the kettle put a cup full on the 2 nozzles. Instant defrost.

They will be heated, probably on all the time and probably don't work, my experience they only last 4/5yrs, would't recomend the warm water treatment, likely to break the screen, especially if it is already damaged slightly

I await the day my wife phones me to say the windscreen has just shattered. However, she's been doing it for yearss and nothing's ever gone wrong.

Not lukewarm; cold water with enough hot to take the cold off. semi-luke warm would be a better description, or is that tepid ?
