2000 W reg E class.

The wipers stopped working and I found it to be the linkage that had popped off the back of the motor. I've repaired it, but it popped off again 5 mins later.

Is it likely to be the ball or the socket that's worn? (ie the motor or the linkage)

Thanks, Simon.

Probably both to a certain extent, I have temp repaired these before by gently squeezing in a vice very slightly the sides of the metal arm with the nylon socket still in place. This has the effect of also reducing slightly the size of the socket and therefore makes it a better fit on the ball. (should work with all metal sockets also)

Thanks mate, it was pouring down so I didn't get a chance to inspect it properly, but it didn't appear to have a nylon bush/insert in the arm, should it have? :?:

Cheers, Simon.

Maybe not, but the (temp) repair should still work, some arms have a sprung socket arrangement.

Update...

Temporary repair worked ok.

£341 + VAT for a new linkage.

£11 for a new 'ball'. :)

Fitted and working ok. (Had to undo temporary repair to use new ball.)
