Your Mercedes
W213 E400d All Terrain
I have a 2001 W210 estate. Earlier in the year, my windscreen cracked (from the top center above the rear view mirror down and across), so the RAC replaced it. Since then, my automatic wipers are somewhat unreliable. On some occasions they work fine, but on others, they either swipe too often for the rain density or just go into continuous mode. I've tried giving the windscreen a really good clean, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Is there any way to re-set / re-calibrate the system? It is likely to be a dodgy sensor? Can you adjust the sensitivity of the system?

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Bill

I had exactly the same problem (and still do). Autoglass claim the screen they fitted is fine, even after a double check. Mercedes main dealers have checked it and say that unless an original Mercedes screen is fitted there may be problems with rain sensor.

i have a feeling Mercedes might be being unhelpful. Obviously a Mercedes screen costs i think about £400 fitted from memory so i decided to put up with the fault. Someone independent person told me they thought the sensor could be re-set but Mercedes claim not!

If anyone else can assist i would welcome comments.

ML.
