Wiper replacement W210

I've just removed and replaced the wiper on my E200 (2000 model). So far so good. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a way of bending the wiper arm down onto the windscreen - I noticed a definite click as I pulled the arm back to about 30 degrees or thereabouts. Hope I haven't broken anything! I'd be grateful for some guidance.

Hello and welcome,,yes I know that feeling when you think that it is going to break, if you have some silicon or PTFE,spray this onto the the moving part where there arm lifts and it will go back down again.

Thanks Blobcat. Tried that - with some force. No joy. I was kinda hoping there was a hidden button or something. Looking at it carefully, there appears to be a double spring to pull the arm in and a little catch - but bit of a 'Chinese puzzle' I'm afraid.

Thanks again Blobcat and Television. Removed the little catch with the help of a pair of long-nosed pliers and philps screwdriver. May replace it after giving it a grease - but have to say, works perfectly well without it. Just means that the wiper won't hold off the windscreen - but never used it anyway, which is probably why it seized up in the first place.

Cheers
