Hi I have a problem that when I switch my wiper off it comes to rest in the middle of the screen and not in its normal rest position. Its a 1996 c200......It did start to stick but cleared itself and started running smoothly but when I came to turn the wiper off it stopped upright. Can anybody help

Cheers

Wiper motor spindle nut come loose....remove the scuttle paneling...position the wiper in the 'park' position, re-tighten the spindle nut.....job done....easy diy.

this job is really easy to do once you know that the turtle shell is held in place with two tabs situated more or less in the bottom 1/3 of it, however the tricky bit is prizing the turtle shell plastic up and to do that I used a small piece of metal with a fingernail sized tab on the end of it (at 90degrees to the metal rod) to slip under the plastic and release the tab. once done access to the two rails was straightforward enough and i liberally greased them

did the job today on my c220 (1995) even though there was no problem, i guess after reading these threads i decided it was time to take some preventative measures, and i must stress again

the job was EASY

cheers

Hi,
If it parks directly up (vertical) everytime in 'exactly' the same place it could be someone has modified to do this on purpose as its a customising thing.
