CLK 240 2004 - our wipers have stuck in the middle of the windscreen. Tried different wiper settings, turning the vehicle on and off but no joy. Fuse, relay ... any advice? Washers also not working - headlamp flash still work ok (uses the same stalk.

Had a start issue, battery power low. Jump started OK and then wipers stopped. Any connection?

You need to fully charge the battery or batteries do this first of all Find your fuse in the fuse box for you wipers , and go from there . If the fuse is good then the relay is the next item or the stalk on the column. And check for water ingress in the boot ,lot of electrics in there and any water will bring on these type of problems .

Check that your bonnet is fully closed & latched - there is a safety cut-out that stops wipers sweeping if bonnet is open!

OMG - that is it. Thank you. I never would have thought the bonnet would have a cut out switch.

Thanks for your suggestions - bonnet open cut out switch was the issue. Close bonnet and all good. Never heard of a car having one of these before.

I think a few cars do now, primarily those whose wipers nest down below the trailing edge of the bonnet when in "parked" position. Stops them scraping paint off bonnet if inadvertently activated when bonnet is up.

Terry .Dont you have an owners manual to read before you get to this stage .

Those aren't the Man Rules... you know that! :)
