Hello All,

I just put the engine back in my 88 190E 2.3 and its not starting. It getting gas, and the oil pressure is good. I am just not getting a spark from the wires. I noticed in the book that it said there was a wire going to the distributor to check, but mine doesnt have any wires. I know mine isnt supposed to have the vacuum advance, but it seems odd there arent any wires going to the distributor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Normally, distributors last the lifetime of the car, even the unseen wire may not be the cause. Check your timing belt, if ok then replace the ignition pick up coil.

Presume you mean a low tension connection to the distributor. I would expect a 1988 car to have one to power the electronic pick ups or whatever it's got?? I've never had experience of these cars.
Can you get a wiring diagram for a 190E? That would show you.
