I have decided to replace my MB Exquisit cassett/radio with something to handle CDs amd MP3 files.

When I removed the wiring from the back of the radio the main block of wires ('ISO' fitting ?) easily transferred to the new radio. However, there was still a small cluster with a single brown wire, with nowhere on the new radio to fit it. The single wire has a label on it which says:

FGD
MB
140 044 23 34
07.12.92

Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is, and what I should do next ?

Many thanks

Sorry, what is GALA ?

Apologies but I do not have the user manual for the radio.

GALA is speed-related volume - Google would have told you that

My last car had a second ISO connector with one brown cable but it was looped from the main connector. Probably an earth - I can't remember

Try Googling ISO stereo car connector to find the generic pinouts

Thanks.

The first thing I did was to try and Google a solution for myself, before posting. However, various combinations of the keywords failed to produce any meaningful results - certainly in relationship to 'GALA'. It was at this point that I turned to the forum for help. I only post when I am unable to find the solution myself.

I also 'Googled' the various numbers on the label for the brown wire, only to find out that it just refers to the Cable Harness.

I am not sure that my radio is affected by speed, certainly never noticed any change of volume in relation to speed.

I also thought it might be a ground, but was reluctant to disconnect it and attach to the body of the radio.

There seem to be a number of adaptors available, which look hopefull. I will take pictures of the conectors in question and visit some car audio dealers the next time I am in town - I live 35miles from the nearest town of any size.

Thanks for the suggestions, anyway.

my suggestions help?

Thanks for the response by email. Unfortunately, my car does not have any controls on the steering wheel.

I'll pursue the matter with a local car audio outlet.

Thanks
