Door mirror on my 2002 CLK 320 'wobbles'. Not vibrates but has a couple of millimetres of 'slack' in in that blurs the mirror when driving.

Quick fix was a blob of blue tack to the body mount. Its not the body mount that's loose but the mirror head itself

Is this a known issue and is it fixable and/or is there anything I should be tightening up on it?

Does your car have folding in mirrors if so hold the button to fold in the mirrors and then release them again this should reset the mirrors, and remove the slack,

I think that the OP means that the glass vibrates but the housing does not.

The glass in this mirror is held in with the wire spring across the top, and held by two lugs into the bottom.

One cure that I did on a SAAB was to remove the glass and put a thin sheet of foam between the motor and the glass, this limited the range of movement but solved the problem.

The motor is quite expensive, and the glass is only held onto this

No, its not the glass as TV mentions. I thought it was this when I noticed it from drivers seat.

If you grasp the mirror casing it 'rocks' back and forth a couple of millimetres.

Will check on the motor in-out option next time I'm in it

Sorry about that,, a spray with silicon may enable the locking to function better, spray the swivel joint well,,it will not hurt the paint
