wonky dash after jump start

Hi guys,

I have a vito 108cdi 2001 model. A couple of months back I removed the battery for charging and when i refitted it the speedo had reset to zero mileage. Last week I left something plugged into the lighter socket and drained the battery so I needed a jump start. Since then nothing has worked in the dash. the speedo, rev counter fuel guage etc dont work. the only warning light that works is the battery light.
A similar thing happened 18 months ago and after a week everything started working again.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?
All the fuses are fine....

The ICM is a control module all of its own, sorry to say but i very much suspect that like other control modules on mb,s they dont like jump starting, tends to blow them, only way for sure is to have a star machine put on to see if you are getting any comms with the dash module itself!

Do I need to go to a main dealer for this? Any idea how much an ICM is?

you need a dealer or a indi with a star machine, as to the price i wouldnt like to say, never fitted one!

I read on another forum where this happened and the cluster had to have the info put back, but as colechelle only on STAR

If any neighbours come along to me and say 'Can I have a jump start?', I have to say 'You can borrow my mains booster/charger, but no touchee my underbonet electrics!'
I admit to being scared witless about battery changes and flat batteries/error codes since joining this forum!
