Will it only rev to 4,500 in Park, Neutral or Drive. As there is a rev limiter in Park & Neutral. I am of course assuming you have an automatic.

so just to clarify. start off in 1st, drive off and stay in 1st, and it does say 20 mph foot on the floor and stuck at 4500 rpm?

i thought at 1st it was a limiter that only kicks in nuetral but when i drove it home the limiter kicked in at 4500 rpm in every gear. ive been advised it may be the air flow sensor?

hi i had the same fault in the past with my 300te with no joy till on the way home from work i had a burning smell then it stoped on me .the prob was the fuel pump relay so i did a temp repair to make the pump run to get home on the way it drove without fault so i fitted a new relay and the prob was solved for good

Hi,
Read something about this on another forum re; w202s may still apply to your car depending on injection system fitted.
They had very similar symptons as you and it proved to be the main Engine ECU.
Lets hope i,m wrong, bit expensive to replace there are places that will repair yours a bit cheaper than buying a new one.
