Hi All,

I have a 1984 280SL and for many years has been great. Recently been having problems starting during a hot day. It turns over but does not fire, soon as the day cools down, normally when the AA turn, up it fires up fine. Has anyone had any problems with starting on a hot day or know what might be up. Anything would save alot of embaressment of mechanics etc. turning up to fix a perfectly good car!

Cheers

Heat related problems are down to expansion. However, you should get more heat once it's running than you do even on a hot day so I'd go for air locks on the fuel system. I had a coil fail when hot but as I say, that was generally after a few mins of running.
