wont start !

hi can anyone give me some advice please?
i have recently bought a c230 1996 kompressor went to jump in it yesterday and the electric side of the key wont work. i went to local motor spares and bought new batteries for the fob replaced them and have tried the three methods to re-code the key but with no success. i can get in through the passenger door and have disabled the alarm under the bonnet but the red light on the mirror and door handle is still flashing and the immobiliser is still on.
can anyone shed any light on how i can fix it or does it have to go back to mercedes to be done. if not does any one want to buy a cheap merc?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
The key on the siren only silences it.
When you operate the key is there a light in the red window of the fob.
Have you tried your spare key?
Have a look at this thread it shows a repair on a key the same as yours should be.

many many thanks
did the trick with the mobile phone camera and the i/r led was not working so i dug the screwdrivers and the soldering iron out and presto 30 mins later and the car was running again. well impressed with that saved myself £120 that i would have spent on a new key otherwise.
