Hi
my 1990 SL300 won't start again this morning following various episodes of cutting out etc. There definitely isn't any sound from the fuel pump but there is a spark. I have removed the fuse box/relay box cover, still looking for the fuel pump relay.
There are: 1 green relay no' 1268202026
1 white relay no' 0015427819
1 black double relay no' 0015427319 (6 pins, 2 on 1 side, 4 on the other)
1 black box 9.5 cm long no' 1298201026 ( flasher unit ?)
and 1 black box 13.5 cm long no' 1295420032 - relay like pins under neath and a plug at each end.

which would be the fuel pump relay if any?
many thanks

Hi
i think the white one 0015427819 is the comfort relay?
the 13.5 cm long one 1295420032 is lamp control and the 9.5cm one 1298201026 is the hazards/flashers etc?

which leaves the grenn single sized one 1268202026 and the black double sized one 0015427319?
many thanks

In the late 107's and 124 of the same year the fuel pump relay could be under the dash drivers side, around the steering column area

Thanks
definitelt not any in the fuse box. The double black one works the cooling fans. Still no idea about the green one however the car did decide to start with it out so not that one either.
I tried a test light to one of the fuel pumps and turned the ignition, no power however the pump didn't run when connected directly to a battery either?

I have a fuel pump for your car should you need one.
It should run with 12v connected to it, but make sure you have correct polarity. The connectors are different sizes.

The pumps will run either way, and we run them backwards to clean them out with the pump part in a bowl of diesel.

Do check the ground lead on the pump, and if you join up a 12 volt wire do take the existing wire off first. the pump should run with 12 volt joined up to it.

Your relay is under the dash as on some early 124 cars and it may be a small 5 or 6 pin version

Hi again
i had a look under the dash near the steering etc but couldn't see anything resembling a relay, could it be behind the glovebox? will keep looking as it seems the most likely cause.
out of interest the remote part of the key doesn't work, nor does the drivers side lock. So i lock/unlock via the passenger side, will this activate the alarm/immobilisor withh the remote not working, could there be a immobilisor that cuts off the supply to the pump?
thanks for all your help

I have been through 157 pages on alarms and only a starter lock out was fitted.

I have found that the fuel pump relay is N16/1 to N16/ 4

I have a picture of its location, but cant work out where it is.

I can send you the paper that includes the testing of it all

Found it Your email address please

You now know where it is and how to check it all,, that took 2½ hours to find.

Paper sent,, go back to your post and edit out the address

1990 MB 300SL Wont't start either

Hi Malcolm,
Have EXACTLY the same problem. The car will not start.
Looking at your message threads, I could not see the outcome.
Can you PLEASE advise which relay caused the problem and where it was located. Thank you, from Down Under. Bruno
