I have a 2003 E320 petrol. At 31K my ball joints needed replacing and now another work colleague who has exactly the same model and year of make also has worn ball joints (at 36K). Looking through some threads it seems that the 2003 E class suffers from this problem. ?Possibly a manufacturing fault.

Is that a recall?
Substandard parts or wearing early due to power steering?

I took my car to a garage for tracking but they couldn't do it because the lower front ball joints had worn out. I took it to the dealer and they agreed that they were worn. They said it was a common problem on the E class. A colleague of mine felt the ride in his E class was not as good and at his service he was told his ball joints had also worn. Both our cars are 2003 E320 and done about 30K.
