I think it/they are sticking.

dash light flickers.

I park the car on my driveway from hell which is a gradiant so it sits heavily on the rear.

where are the sensors located? what's the best way to free them?

cheers

Pad wear sensors...

are located at each front caliper.

Pull off the rim and have a look and you'll see a white wire running from a recepticle mounted on the caliper to one (or both depending on caliper design) of the brake pad(s). your car most likely has floating calipers so there should only be 1 sensor at each wheel. Rear brakes do not have wear sensors.

That's the idea - when the dash light flickers it means the pads are worn, as the sensor is through to earth, completing the circuit and switching on your bulb to warn you of the fact.

To clarify
The sensor is a metal pin, located in a hole a few mm before the end of the pad. As the pad wears, the material in front of the pad wears away, eventually exposing the pin, which touches the disk, makes the circuit and puts the light on. It sounds to me like you have a short somewhere.
I assume you are certain is the pad wear light and not the fluid level warning which would be affected by gradiant.

The insulation on the wire can crack over time - water gets in and shorts the circuit.
