Hi all,i have just got under car to change the oil on my recently aquired 1990 300se w126,only to find that the sump plug has been rounded off.
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove the plug safely without damaging the aluminium sump?

I did answer your other post.

A small stiltson may move it, you could try filing it up and hammer on an old socket, a cold chisel not to sharp may work

At the risk of starting a holy war! You could leave the sump plug where it is, and use a vacuum pump to extract the oil.

Maybe he just wanted a second opinion :p

if it is really badly chewed up then a bigger nut set over the worn one and welded on..
