The mechanic has told me I have turbo failure on my c320cdi. Cost of turbo from merc circa £1200, he also advised replacing exhaust manifolds ?£600 and air intake has a crack £300 from merc. In addition there is the labour. Is it worth it?

When the car is on form it takes some beating. The cost of replacing the turbo is hefty and wonder whether I should simply upgrade to the newer c class??

So how much in total? He would be best to change the inlet port motor while he is at it! If the truncking is cracked it will have been fitted incorrectly previously

£2300 including labour provided no other issues. inlet port was changed june 2011 but if that needed chanaging again then skys the limit.

An 05 car it must be worth fixing, or you trade it in if running

What's trad ein value? Not a lot one would imagine.... What could you buy with trade in plus that repair cost? Knowing both of those figures you can make an informed decision....

Thanks. Will weigh up pros and cons of repairing vs trade in and proceed from there....

I cannot tell you the tech is wrong for advising that the manifold should be renewed. If in doubt then they should be renewed! I know it is a lot of money but I would say repair it and enjoy many more miles with her!!!!!!!
If the ips motor was replaced last year then it should be fine
