'93 320te, heater blower not working when i bought it so stripped the motor out got it unseized and working(ish). I was under the impression that a blower for an aircon car was a blower for an aircon car, differences only between aircon, climate and non-aircon so didn't bother noting part nos (yeah, dumb).

Anyway get a used motor from an aircon car only to find that despite the motor housing being the same physically the shafts and cages are different so...

heater blower motor (800 x 600).jpg

Not the best photo but the differences between the cages are clear. Obviously forgot to note the part # of the replacement  but both are bosch, origonal is 0130111011

Managed to swap the cages over after some faffing around due to the axle being too short on one side only to have the replacement eat part of one its bearings a few weeks later. Tear it all apart again (at least it less takes than 30mins now) to find a split washer in one bearing. Patch that up and all is good for a month or two but it's now (intermitently) sounding like it's in its death throws

Right to the point. Anyone know if there were several different types used or have i just been sold a motor form a climate car by mistake?

There are quite a few versions of the motor(s). the best answer is always to refurbish the one you - but I realise that isn't always possible

If it's a Bosch part spares should be available

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that

Should have occured to me have a look there first.

Item 74 would be the blower for mine. 3 possabilities listed but as mine is definately factory aircon #28 can be eliminated(?) leaving tempmatik (climate?) and heating automatic (?).

Edit: just seen Nicks post, guess i'll just have to be careful when selecting another replacement. Refurbishing would suit me but the one that was in the car is in a right state

Cheers guys

Yeah, it might come to that or a wanted ad (got this motor from a member here) but i think i'll try and locate something new from the bosch part # on the origonal motor. I suspect i'll need to be sitting when getting a price for something so simple but stripping out the scuttle is getting to be very boring!
