Wot no Command!! S320 CDI (2001)

Hi,

I do not have sat nav or command facility in my merc. What unit models/age can I look for & will I have the harness in place?

You can fit what ever you like, and yes all cables are there including the speed signal.

To be totally OEM you need COMAND 2.5 these units come up on on ebay from time to time and are very reasonably priced as there isnt a huge demand for them since most S classes had COMAND from the factory.

Retrofitting isnt too difficult either.

You can also checkout www.mercupgrades.com, this guy knows his stuff. I used his info when I retro-fitted Command (from Audio 30APS) into my ML a few months back.

If you dont fancy doing it yourself, contact Steve at www.mbenz.nl, very good guy, installed UHI for me. Not that difficult to get to his workshop in Holland, and he also does 'visits'.

If you want connector details, then www.audiocomp.at/command-pin.html or www.audiocomp.at/aps-pin.html (if you S came with Audio 30aps). Also www.whnet.com/4x4/MY2000_MCS_pins.html for more connector info.

Its very easy in the ML, and if the S is just a double DIN square fascia, should also be easy and straight forward.

Sat Nav!!

Yep...us too! We only got Audio 10 in our C220 CDI, but we're currently negotiating for a Command unit with Alfie at www.command.co.uk.
As we're north of the border, and not planning on a London trip until later in the year, we're gonna get one sent up and attempt to fit it ourselves. Apparently...it's fairly straightforward...famous last words!

Oh dear indeed!.... but dont worry, my ML came with the 10 (or was it 20, Im getting old and forgetful!!), and I swapped it out for the 30 aps (direct swap) after 6 months from new as I needed the navigation.
