It's probably been quite a while since you took your driving test.

The DSA has recently made the test harder, do you think you've got what it takes?

8/10,the dog one and the minimum parking distance from a junction, does that mean I should stop driving?.:(
40years since my bike and car tests but I coached both of my daughters through their tests last year so no excuse for me.

10/10 Not bad for someone who passed his test 47 years ago (had to guess the dog question though).

I got the dog one wrong so 9 out of 10, not bad for someone who took their test in 1953

I am going to do the Advanced test this year

The questions are pretty basic, anyone who could not get 9/10 should not be driving wether they took their test recently, or as some of us not so recently (1963) in my case. :)

8/10 Dog and distance from the junction wrong.

Though I think No 1 was the one that tested me most - couldn't make up my mind so stuck a (virtual) pin in and got No 1 :lol: Map eh? What will they think of next! Haven't they heard of Satnav?

As for the mobile phone one, don't they know about handsfree? And isn't there an exception if you're driving a BMW or is that just my perception based on observation.............:lol:

Now I feel dashed with my 8/10 . I'll go and set fire to my W203 straightaway :(. And lock myself away in the dark for the rest of my life.

At least give me full marks for honesty......................

Never any problem there with you, distances are harder now due to having both imperial and metric

That batch of questions reminded me of a test you needed to take and pass to be able work on a certain oil refinery in Essex.
There was a sheet of 40 questions and you had to get 35 correct to get your refinery pass. All the questions were multi-choice as most exams seem to be today.
One of the questions was......

"What are are you NOT allowed to bring onto the refinery"?

1. Sandwiches
2. Newspaper
3. Matches
4. Pencil

And believe it or not some actually FAILED the test. :-?

9/10. The dog question I guessed the answer. I got the parking distance from a junction wrong. I thought that it was 15 metres.

Passed my test on the 8th May 1960 and the IAM test 4 years later. I would like to think that I would pass both today but not before I mugged up on the new highway code. The 1959 version I learnt from included horse drawn vehicles but quoted the same braking distances.
