- T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Noticed these dark nights when I hit kickdown on my e320cdi (2001) the smoke seen in the rearview mirror has been getting worse, and almost a little embarressing. This is not just when I'm trundling around town but also on the motorway.
The red guage on the air filter was not indicating blocked filter and it was inspected 6 months ago (I saw) and it was aok. Decided to replace the filter anyway and when I took the old one out it was black and full of leaves n stuff. New Merc filter and I got change from £20. Also bought some diesel injector cleaner and whilst only done 50 miles since it's been in the tank this with the filter has almost eliminated the smoke on kickdown. MPG appears to be up by 4-5mpg - but will test properly tomorrow on my usual journey to work.
Interestingly, the guy at Merc said the filters aren't annually renewal like other cars and can last up to 4 years (mine was date stamped May 2004 - though this was prob manufacture date rather than replacement date.)
Anyway, thought I'd share my happy story. She now feels, phsycologically, like a new car
