Just stumbled across this thread on the MBUK site
http://mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=6722&highlight=switch
I was never convinced that the summer/winter switch on my E300TD made much difference, sure enough, after taking a look, the actuating plunger was sticking, took me abou 30 minutes to fix. I am gobsmacked at the difference in perfomance, the car now pulls off in first gear, I can redline it through the gears, gear changes and kickdowns are much snappier, the car really has been transformed, made me realise what a fast motor it really is! Wish I had kept my eye open for a 320CDI now!
Apparently this is a common fault so, if like me you have your doubts about the switch, take a look at it, you will fall in love with your car all over again!
