wrap headlights clear or smoked

Hello guys, I've always had my headlights wrapped with 'Clear' in the past; however, I am having the car headlights wrapped again later this week and was offered a 'Dark Tint'

Has anybody had experience with this and did it reduce the light output?

Most members on here complain about light output so adding a tint goes the exact opposite…
Yes it will reduce light output, same as putting sunglasses on…

Not heard of that - what's the benefit/thinking?
It prevents stone chips, which is better than replacing a headlight unit, also if the film becomes discoloured (which is unlikely) just re-wrap.

Never thought about this before, but it seems to be a good idea in principle.

Has anyone any experience of clear film applied for headlight protection, both from UV and also road rash?

Products?

Application to curved surfaces?

Durability?

I have clear on my 911 headlights - it was part of a dealer protection pack applied back in ‘05… few marks on them but the bi-xenon lights still work perfectly.

Thanks guys, I stuck with the clear again. I also had the rear bumper done as it's an estate and we have dogs. When I spoke to the wrapper he confirmed what @ajlsl600 said..."Stick with clear, not only will it hide minor scratches but it will not show stone chips, etc"

....and if you have smoked wrap, it's very likely to fail its next MoT for "product applied to headlight reducing light output"
(Deemed OK if it was original equipment - back inn the day I had an Audi Quattro . All the lights were dark grey and I had to show the original spec - 2 different testers...
