It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that my Mercedes has passed away. The event too place on a country lane on the 30/11/2004. It became entangled with a Mini Bus, that was travelling on the wrong side of the road. She was immaculate and the insurance company has come up with an offer of £1650 less £300 excess. K reg 1.8 mannual. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should accept from them? Many thanks in anticipation of your help.

Hi,

In most cases the insurance company would bid low in the first instance. If and it's a big 'IF', you want far more then try and back up your price by obtaining information about anything similar that has been sold recently together with any good pictures of yours etc. That way you can reject any initial offer with something to back it up.

Good luck.

If the other person is at fault they will (should) pay your excess. Good luck.

If you want to increase the payout you need to provide evidence that your car is worth more.

A good place to get back up info is the autotrader website....find similar vehicles to yours with similar mileage and spec etc and print off the details

As another poster states they always come in with a low offer in the first instance.
