Hi All

I own a e320cdi estate 2004 , while on holiday a local garage put in 5w40 oil
instead of the recommended 5w30, should I change it?

Could this cause over heating eventually?

thanks

It'll be fine. You can use practically any grade of oil in a Mercedes - have a look in the back of your service book.

Thinner oils (30 is thinner than 40 at working temp) offer slighty less resistance and improve economy. It's hard to imagine on a 320CDi that the difference would even be measureable.

Thanks

I thought as much, the 5w40 is Mobil Super 3000 spec 229,3 so can't be so bad.

thanks again
