Ferrari says it will replace any burnt-out 458 with a shiny new one 'as soon as possible', as long as it can be proved the er, 'thermal incident' was the result of the problem addressed by the recall.

I hope Ferrari are more honest than some other manufacturers (we know who) when it comes to addressing the matter

Must be a really "Hot Fix"?

Good one, but more likely a "Service Pack" or a complete "Re-Pack/Re-Build" if we talking software delivery terms! lol

I gues you can deny corrosion or question a 'funny brake pedal feel' but it's a bit trickier to deny why a brand new £170,000 supercar turned itself into a smouldering pile of scrap.

That said, based soley on my personal experience of Ferrari owners, I've never met one yet that I'd let into my house. A very nasty bunch of people IME. So, as a generalisation it couldn't happen to a more deserving brand!

I imagine (hope) not, just oddly, every one I've met. Not a great sample but half a dozen maybe.
I suspect, like most, the brand attracts a certain type of personality.
Its not a car you buy for it's undoubted technical excellence. After all, there isn't anywhere you can use it in the UK aside from the track and if you want a daily road usable supercar (quiet, comfortable etc)- albeit not quite as good on a track, there are vastly better products out there - 911, AMG, Aston, Jag etc. They're also not what you call subtle. So, primarily, I suspect they appeal to people who, judge a persons value in this world by how much money they have and to feel in any way significant, need you to know they "are considerably richer than you".
By definition, not the sort of people I'd choose to share a pint with!

They do, but its Mercedes approved very special glue that ignites very handily after the car is out of dealer warranty, in the same way very special Mercedes approved steel disolves spontaniously after 3 years.
