Have seen this problem across various forums with different solutions, adding my experience for potential assistance:
I have a 2015 CLA250 Shooting Brake. A month ago all of a sudden multiple warning lights came on the dash and error messages:
- Parking Brake Inoperable (RED)
- ABS Inoperative (YELLOW)
-Park Assist Inoperable (YELLOW)
- multiple dashboard lights including the dreaded amber engine light
In addition the steering became heavier and braking more difficult. The problem seemed to correct itself so carried on with hope all ok. In hindsight I should have gone straight to the mechanic then.
So of course the problem eventually hits again but constant when the mrs was doing the school run. Took to local garage in N.London who diagnosed either a wheel sensor fault or something more serious/expensive. Thankfully changing the wheel sensors solved the problem 100% (shout out to Brunswick Garage)
Hope someone finds this helpful. Will update the thread if anything changes...
