Hi,

only had my GL350 Bluetec for 3 weeks. A few days ago the CEL came on and I took it to the garage. They did some quick diagnostics and determined it was low on AdBlue. This has cured the issue thankfully but surely my car should have some kind of warning message / light somewhere ? Seems excessive flagging CEL for a top up issue.

Car is a 2013 X166 UK GL350 Bluetec AMG

thanks

Hello and welcome,

The AdBlue will show level and range on the dash - you can scroll through the display to see it.

The Engine Warning light is usually related to a fault in the AdBlue / NOX / DPF system - very common and it will most likely come back - how old is the car and what kind of warranty do you have?

I suspect they've reset the engine warning light and sent you on your way... :(

Yes, as above, I would not expect an adblue low condition to trigger a check engine light, unless there are other things that are not right.

Hi - thanks for the welcome!

They topped up my AdBlue and it's fixed the issue.

On my 2013 X166 I've scrolled through every screen option on the driver binnacle screen and there's nothing for AdBlue level which I think is bizarre!

I've got a warranty and it's only coming up to 4 weeks since I purchased it so not overly worried about being lumbered with a bill. I just know categorically there was no message on screen telling me I had a low level of AdBlue.

Can anybody with a similar model let me know where I should find this AdBlue level please?

thanks

there's no way to read the Adblue level on my 14 plate ML350 either. I've yet to have a low Adblue level message but I add a bit every now & then.

My 2015 W222 S class 350 Bluetec is the same. I cannot find Adblue level in any of the menus but as EmilysDad, I fill up Adblue every year

Just by way of further update.....

Check engine light returned after AdBlue popup. After some more driving I start to get the message of 'car won't start in XXX miles' etc etc so it's clearly related to that.

Spoke to Mercedes at the request of my local garage and Merc have suggested making sure my car has the latest software as it could potentially be due to that. My local garage thinks it's either the knock sensors (can't see how) or the SRC cat (not sure if that's the right terminology) ?? Something about pressure in the separate cat. Apparently Merc have been having a lot of issues with this system and are potentially doing goodwill repairs on cars if you moan enough.

Car is booked in this coming Monday so will see what happens - it's covered via third party warranty but hoping they won't put this down to wear and tear on a car that's only done 69k mileage
