Hi
Has anyone had any experience of using "Eurolites" beam benders on an E class
06 ?

I have tried to set them up as per the instructions, but it appears that although they are
supposed to fit the plain glass lens, there is no info for this !

Thanks

Graham

Xenon's should have a LHD or RHD 'switch', and hence no need for 'beam benders'. It's worth checking first.

Xenon

Thanks for your replies.

I was hoping to save the grief of having to fight my way into the lamp housing ,but it looks as if I shall bite the bullet and take your kind offer of a diagram.

Many thanks

Graham

Just as a footnote here.

This is about changing the dipping when going abroad .

On xenon lamps when you operate the lever, the only moves a cover mechanically over the lamp to cut off part of the beam. It will not do if you want to export your car and the correct LHD lamps have to be fitted in this case

Just a query Malcolm.
I note that this is for the W209 with 615 Bi-xenon fitted.
On the invoice for my vehicle (new) it states 618 Bi-xenon.
Is it likely to be the same?

My info is 2 years old Peter, but they should all work the same way for this beam cut off

E Class Estate 211 Avantgarde 2004 with sports option, Comand, etc.
Hello

I've had this problem - see my posts of some time back - and I've always ended up sticking those horrible circles on my H lights.

At the time, several people put helpful posts up explaining that each light has a lever which is simply moved. I couldn't find these on my 2004 211 E320CDI Avantgard estate so I went to my dealer. The tech spent 2 hours and ended up deciding my car didn't have the lever adjusters.

If there's a sheet explaining the levers, would it be possible to post it up on the forum?

It's amazing that although I've got SBC, auto lights and wipers, cruise, limiter, self levelling and all the usual E Class goodies, there's no facility in the computer to switch the lights over to LHD or even straight ahead. I can even set the intensity of my roof lights and get the mirrors to fold on locking but I'm still going to Halfords for the stickies. One last moan - they're hell to get off!

Russ.

Its against the forum rules to put up this data unless someone want to re write the whole thing.

I can send you a copy

Hi Russ,

Don't despair - I had a W211 AG and am blowed if I could find the adjuster either. I did decided that, if challenged, I would baffle the gendarmes with science and claim the beams were symmetrical and did not dip to either side - I certainly did not experience any adverse reaction from oncoming motorists.

Removal of the Halfraud's stickkies is easy. I use them on the SL. On return from the foreign - either leave the car in sunlight, or stationary with the lights on, or pour quite warm water over them. Peel them off and stick them on a firm polythene surface (like the sleeves we use to file documents). You can then use them over and over again. A good Scot will get several seasons out of a set.
