I have located the switch on the back of my lights on my r230 but have no idea whether I am supposed to flick them up or down? In my manual it suggest to seek assistance from my dealer but I leave in the morning.

I have done a search and found that on A class mercedes one is up and the other is flicked down, is this the same for my SL?

Thanks, Dan

Easiest way is to park facing a wall and see which position gives a flat beam. UK pattern will have a kick up on the left. The lever in the lamp unit places a mask into the beam to remove this kick which would dazzle oncoming drivers when driving on the right.

Have a look at the sticky titled "adjusting lights for Europe" in the electrical section of the forum. Theres full details of how to adjust the SL's lights there.

It a an odd action, lift the lever and the and the cover comes down, lift the lever again and it goes up. So best to use a wall to see, but truthful I have never been flashed with xenons when the have not been set.
