Xentry not booting up

Hi everyone newbie question....
I have bought a 2014 c3 xentry which isn't booting up. The start screen comes up then dissappears after around 30 seconds and thats it.
What could be the problem ? The guy I bought it from said he'd forgotten the password...... is this the reason or something else?

I would guess not having a password is the problem. Imagine you have a computer and dont have the password, means you cant access the password. These products are licenced and a renewal is the accesss rights (ie password)

Is it a genuine system? Early systems get timed out by Mercedes.
