Yellow LED in Armrest ... W211

Silly question , I know, but having seen it there it is bugging me as to what it does ...

That is the yellow LED inside the centre armrest...

Is it for illumination at night? :-?

That would be assumption. From memory it only comes on at night and I can't see another reason for it.

I have two of them and not got that far in the manual as yet..

I spent ages trying to work out why the interior lights didn't come on when I opened the door and went through all the fuses. I eventually had a brain wave and tried them again at night and when I opened the door the interior lights came on. The car knew it was light outside so didn't bother putting the lights on earlier!

Split armrests are fitted to cars with phone kits or preparation only.
